As parents we want our babies to be safe, happy and healthy. As winter approaches we also want to keep them warm and away from the elements. I have seen many parents bring their babies to car seat checks wearing puffy snow suits. Their intentions are good, but what parents don’t realize, is that the cute puffy snow suit is now creating space between the baby and the harness. That space allows the baby to have movement if there was a crash.
To eliminate that space, put the baby in the car seat while inside, tighten the harness straps, and then put blankets on top of the baby before heading into the chilly weather. The nice part about doing this is that you will have more control over your baby’s temperature, and nothing will interfere with the harness straps that allow the car seat to function properly.
